Dear readers,

My name is Brent McGrath and I’m a pretty easy going guy. This is my first experience with writing a blog, so I thought I’d start with telling a bit about myself. I’m relaxed most of the time, I don’t often get stressed out, haha. But I guess sometimes it just happens…

I like to be with my good friends all the time, I love having a laugh and just chilling and having a good time. My favorite food is Spaghetti Bolognese. Don’t know why, haha, but I love it.

I have played football for 11 years. Since I was a young kid, I have always loved to kick the football around the backyard with my brother or with my mates from school. I would always have a football at my feet, when I could.

MOVING TO DENMARK

Growing up in Australia was great! I was with my family and friends all the time and I lived close to a lot of kids my age, so we would always be doing some type of sporting activity.

I had just turned 15, when I moved to Denmark. A lot of people thought that I was too young to go, but I thought that it was the right time to go, to progress with my football. I learned a lot in Australia, but to make it to the next level, I needed to come to Europe and see how it was really done.

I was not scared to move away from my family and friends. I was actually really looking forward to it. I knew that I was going to start a new life on the other side of the world, meet new people and get new friends.

THE RIGHT CHOICE

Personally, I think that it was a great choice to move to Denmark and I love playing football here. We travel a lot around Europe, so I get to see different parts of the world, I would have never seen before.

It has also helped me to become an independent man. Now I can to do a lot of things, that I never thought I’d be able to, because I’m living in a totally new culture with new surroundings.

LIFE IN BRØNDBY

A typical week in Brøndby looks like this:

Monday: One training
Tuesday: Two trainings. First at 8.15, second at 16.00
Wednesday: This is our day off, but sometimes we have matches. If we are not playing games, I would just relax at home.
Thursday: Same as Tuesday. A training really early and then one in the afternoon.
Friday: We train at 16 on Fridays. We usually do a lot of tactical work and free kick work for the game the next day.
Saturday: GAME DAY, we usually play at 13 on Saturdays.
Sunday: Just an easy day… it is a day to do what ever we feel… free day!!

@Brent: In your next blog could you tell us how your move to Brøndby came about? Did you know any of the other two Australians, Dave and Paul, or?

    Hi Brent

Great to hear you made the transition to Denmark so easily. I’ll look forward to reading more about the daily life of one of the youngsters in Brøndby. After seeing your weekly schedule, one question comes to mind. Don’t you have any regular high school classes? Or is it only football your “studying” in Denmark?
